Check back soon for our 2019 application or sign up for our newsletter to receive notification.

The deadline to apply is May 1st, 2018 by 11:59 PM MST. Applicants must include an artist statement, a cover letter that addresses their interest in the program, experience with community engagement, and studio practice, a current C.V., contact information for 3 professional references, and a work sample. There is a non-refundable $45 application fee.

Two residencies will be offered to studio artists for 11-months, from September 2018 – July 2019, during which the artists will receive a monthly stipend, studio space, and housing with utilities paid. During their residency, we expect our resident artists to hold regularly scheduled open studio hours for 15 hours each week during which they will be available to discuss their work and their process with the public. To be eligible, applicants must have received a BFA or MFA in studio art within the last 5 years or be scheduled to complete their degree in the spring 2018.

  • Application: Apply via CAFE:
  • Application Fee: The application fee is $45 and is non-refundable/
  • Cover Letter: Submit a cover letter that discusses your interest in the HUB-BUB Artist-in-Residence Program and why you think you’d be a good fit for our program. Be sure to read through our program details and FAQs thoroughly before applying. You should also use this space to address any experience you have with public engagement. This can include but certainly is not limited to open studio experience, public art projects, volunteering, teaching experience, communications and marketing experience, and community organizing or activism work. Lastly, be sure to include some information about your studio practice. Because we will have two artists sharing a space that is connected to our offices and we will expect our selected artists to hold regular open studio hours, we are interested in hearing when and how you work, and how you see your practice adapting to our program model.
  • Artist Statement: Include a brief statement introducing us to your work.
  • Curriculum Vitae: Upload a C.V. that includes your previous work experience, education information, any publications or reviews or rewards related to your work as an artist, exhibition information, and any other skills, training, or volunteering experience you think might be relevant to our program.
  • Work Sample: Although CAFÉ allows you to upload up to 20 images, we’d prefer between 8 – 12 images that demonstrate your best work. There is also a space in the application where you can submit other materials such as links to your website, publications, and links to videos or audio samples. We want you to have the ability to fully represent the breadth of your work, but we would encourage you to operate under the philosophy of sometimes less is more.
  • References: Be sure to include contact information for 3 professional references who can speak to your work as an artist or experience with community engagement. At least one of your references should be a professor you’ve work with closely and recently (within the last 5 years).
