For 2016 we are implementing an Artist in the Community Residency in partnership with the Spartanburg County Public Library System, and we are pleased to introduce our first resident, Lydia See. Her time will be divided between her own artistic projects and a generous amount of community work with the Spartanburg County Public Libraries.

Lydia is very excited to be working in Spartanburg and has this to say as she begins:

It is an honor and a privilege to accept the Artist in the Community Residency and to partner with HUB-BUB and the Spartanburg County Public Libraries to build a more creatively engaged Spartanburg. I believe that art and creative practice in any form should be inclusive and accessible to anyone. Teaching and exchanging dialog about art is an integral part of my practice, and spending time in the service of a community will expand my ability to learn about my own work while facilitating the aesthetic development of others. By using my studio practice and through designing a series of community-oriented programs, I hope to inspire and create connections within the community, and offer a gentle point of entry for those who might not ordinarily seek out art in their daily lives.

We are can't wait to see what Lydia will create during her tenure with HUB-BUB. If you want to contact Lydia with ideas, thoughts, or simply a hello you can e-mail her at
